The Rave Model for Artistic RegenerationThe RAVE model for artistic regeneration involves completely re-thinking the ways in which we engage with our public and society as a whole. A changing world needs new solutions and RAVE represents a holistic approach to fund-raising and audience development for artistic work in the 21st century. The RAVE model takes the following observations about the current state of artistic enterprise:
and connects them with the assumption that we truly believe in the value of what we do and the knowledge that people support things they value to reach the conclusion that rather than blame the ills of the world for our current plight we should consider whether we have truly promoted our message effectively. I believe that many of the prevailing ills derive from a failure to acknowledge and act upon fundamental principles which must inform artistic work and that we need to radically re-think our relationship with the public. In short, it is not artistic ideas we need so much as the infrastructure within which to realise them: that what we need is the power of a better business model, one which implicitly supports an artistic message and strengthens the case for financial support, whether directly from individuals or through public funding.
